Am văzut, acum ceva vreme, un film extraordinar... Am plâns şi mi-am amintit de toţi acei prieteni ai mei, efectiv admirabili, mai presus de religia, de cultura lor. Mi-am amintit că da, vinovaţi pot fi oamenii - unii oameni, dar niciodată popoarele.

Mă gândesc, inevitabil, şi la Averroes şi la cât îi datorăm noi, europenii... Dacă nu erau învăţaţii arabi, praf şi pulbere s-ar fi ales de toate scrierile civilizaţiei antice. Şi nu vreau să ştiu ce-am fi ajuns noi, fără Renaştere (redescoperirea antichităţii)...
